chinese proverb
the one about how the boat will straighten itself once it reaches the pier..
clement used to say this chinese proverb in refrence to our alvls when we were studying for them.. but over the months it has come to mean quite a bit more to me..
i painted that for him last month.. surprisingly it took me about 2hours from start to finish (it's 18inches by 36inches).. he's amazing for my art.. and this was the painting that made me really realise that i'm good at art.. this painting is real.. emotionally real.. it's extremely personal.. not just something i did because i was bored or something i had to do because of a school assignment.. this is real..
and that's about as much as i'll explain about this painting.. simply because i never quite like explaining my work though i am aware that quite a bit of my work needs explaining.. a good piece of art is one that evokes a certain emotion or thought.. and i rather let the viewer figure out for themselves what my painting (or whatever piece of art i did) means to them.. besides, a viewer's interpretation of an art piece says a lot more about them than it does of the person who created the art piece.. and that always tends to be interesting..
excuse me, feeling a bit emo (never quite liked that word)..
oh well
the boat will straighten itself once it reaches the pier
