immortal/temporal
[er if you were expecting a post about london.. wait a bit! =x]was reading tim's blog just now.. the post about how because i paint, my work, creation and expression can be immortalised.. whereas his form of the arts, theatre.. "vanishes with every word, every note, every dish.."
but i feel that there is a certain sense of beauty in the things that are temporal.. if you look a few posts down.. you would see my post about my "chinese proverb" painting.. i painted that in the evening and the sunset during then was so beautiful.. swirls of purple and pink..
and it was there and then that i decided to never take another photo of a sunset (well i don't really have to add on "sunrise" as the chances of me waking up in time to capture one are pretty slim..).. i mean to really grasp the extent of it's beauty, you have to be there to witness it.. to experience it.. the changing of the colours.. the movement of the clouds.. the slow fading of it all.. it's the whole process of it that adds to it's beauty.. and i now feel that simply taking a picture of it just cheapens the whole thing..
a mere photo of it.. no matter how beautifully taken.. will definitely pale in comparison to the real thing..
and i mean with theatre (i've been both part of the cast as well as crew and contrastingly as part of the audience).. it's engaging.. it gives you an experience.. it's the whole process of it.. the rise and fall of it.. the action.. the music.. the lighting.. the whole experience of it that makes it beautiful..
so i don't really think you can compare the difference forms of arts fairly.. i mean i love doing art - painting, drawing and all.. but i love being on stage and acting and dancing and singing.. it's a real rush..
there's beauty in each of them..
