rockabaret!

tada! my first clubbing experience in the uk =) [i know the white`ish part on my pants is pretty unslightly but it's actually a really nice flowery pattern and looks no where as bad as that in real life.. it's acutally quite pretty.. garh -.-]

rockabaret!
it's this themed night that occurs on every third saturday of the month at a small club called "the cobden club", which is about 11 train stops from where i live.. basically you dress up for it, in cabaret clothing or victorian style clothing or think like, moulin rouge!
so i went with a few of my friends the day before to try and find some clothing for the event.. some of my friends got fish net stockings.. i got a waspy (?) which is like a half corset.. i wanted this really really pretty full corset.. but er it cost 130 - 150 pounds? so er yea.. heh.. oh and i got like a bowler/top hat for it too!

and my friend michelle, who lives in the block next to mine at our hostel, kindly agreed to help me do my makeup.. ah reminds me of steph and her makeup prowess back home =

this is the group that went for it.. all of us minus izzy, who was taking the picture..

and this is us on the way there..
okae i don't have any photos of the place that are worth putting up but it's a really cool place.. and there were a lot of people who came dressed for the occasion! some guys were in the whole gentleman outwith with the coat tails and top hat and all.. some girls were in victorian-style dresses.. some guys were in victorian-style dresses.. there was girl who dressed up as a skanky version of alice in the wonderland and her boyfriend who was more or less bald except for a few hair spikes, had bunny ears on =) and at one point the two owners of the club came onto the stage to just thank everyone for dressing up and they commented how this is the first time on "rockabaret" night (think this was the 4th or 5th time they were having it) that they feel under-dressed in their own club! lol =)

[and if you think that's me in the hat.. nooo.. it's some other guy who had the exact same hat as me =) ]
and speaking of the stage, every half an hour or so there would be a little live art performance.. that night when we were there.. there was a fire breathing girl and some odd little dance number.. oh and when the two owners of the club were on stage, they declared the next song to be a semi-rock waltz number and everyone in the club did er..something that resembled to a very badly choreographed waltz but it was really fun =)
the only downside of this whole clubbing experience was the journey back to our hostel (most of stay in the same hostel, and the 2 that didn't were just going to stay over at our hostel).. the bus ride took ONE AND A HALF FREAKING HOURS! I could travel from singapore to malaysia by plane in ONE AND A HALF FREAKING HOURS! and then we had to walk like another half an hour to get home -.- and on our way back there was this group of three or four guys who repeatedly tried hitting on us and getting our attention.. so much so that they actually followed us for a bit -.- and when we reached a t-junction they went the oppsite direction of us.. but when we finally got back to our hostel and closed the main gates.. the same group of guys walked by and started saying hi again and about how it's such a coincidence.. bleh!
but er other than that, i pretty much enjoyed myself =) really like the whole cabaret theme! hope one of the clubs in singapore will have something similar soon...
